(HorizonPost.com) – The Democratic Party is showing itself to be an institute divided between the hard-Left Progressives and the more centrist Moderates with President Joe Biden stuck in the middle. The COVID-19 relief bill — in this case, specifically the $1400 stimulus payment — was a bone of contention, and the latter group won this round.
The version of the legislation passed by the House of Representatives maintained the income caps for eligibility at $100,000 per individual and $200,000 per couple. However, that received pushback from some Senate Democrats, including Joe Manchin of West Virginia. They demanded a reduction to the caps — $80,000 and $160,000 respectively — and he agreed to approve the bill with those changes made.

The Leftists in the House of Representatives have already seen the removal of the $15-per-hour minimum wage and Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) pet Bay Area train project from the bill they passed. This latest removal could be unpalatable to their constituents. According to a Business Insider story, the Senate’s move means 16 million people will lose their payments.
