(HorizonPost.com) – It’s no great secret that “Hiden’ Joe Biden” likes to avoid questions, preferring to stay at home in his basement and avoid reporters instead. In fact, “Biden in the basement” has become somewhat of a rallying cry for many supporters of President Donald Trump. With this in mind, it comes as no great surprise he won’t answer questions about son Hunter’s emails.
The New York Post dropped a bombshell report on October 14, revealing an email allegedly sent to Hunter Biden from a Ukrainian oil executive thanking him for providing the “opportunity to meet” Joe Biden during a 2015 visit to Washington, DC.
The Biden campaign put a “lid” on any in-person events that day, and the Democratic presidential nominee hunkered down in his Wilmington, Delaware home. He emerged from hiding the following day to attend a televised town hall where he answered softball questions from audience members and ABC News moderator George Stephanopoulos.
On Friday, October 16, CBS News reporter Bo Erickson managed to corner him following a Michigan campaign event and asked him about Hunter’s emails. Biden fired back, “I know [sic] you’d ask,” but refused to answer the question although he obviously was expecting it.
I asked Joe Biden: What is your response to the NYPost story about your son, sir?
He called it a “smear campaign” and then went after me. “I know you’d ask it. I have no response, it’s another smear campaign, right up your alley, those are the questions you always ask.” pic.twitter.com/Eo6VD4TqxD

Part of an Overall Pattern
Biden accepted his party’s nomination on August 20, and since that time, he has consistently failed to answer questions of substance. For example, he loves attacking the president about his response to the COVID-19 pandemic. But asked about his plan, he consistently defers to “the scientists.”
Likewise, Biden has been pressed repeatedly about Democratic threats to “pack” the Supreme Court in response to the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The most he’s said on the matter was telling Stephanopoulos he’s “not a fan” of the idea, “it depends on how this turns out.”
Biden appears to be running a mystery campaign of sorts. Counting his time on Delaware’s New Castle County Council, Biden’s political career has spanned five decades, and in that time, he seems to have perfected the art of avoiding questions. Voters deserve answers to questions about Hunter’s emails. Perhaps, Biden knows he can’t provide them.
