(HorizonPost.com) – President Joe Biden once again nominated Gigi Sohn to be the commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), prompting her to be confronted with previous tweets that have been denounced as racist, according to The Daily Caller.
Sohn was renominated after the first failed bid when there was controversy over her left-wing activism. The same dispute ensued when she showed up to Congress for her hearing last week, where she was questioned by Republican Sens. Ted Cruz and J.D. Vance.
Using Sohn’s tweets, Vance rearranged the terms and asked her if she would appoint or confirm a candidate to the FCC if they had written that.
“‘President Obama is a raggedy black supremacist president and his cowardly enablers would rather kill everybody than stop killing white people,’” he read, asking her if this was acceptable. He then pointed out that this was a tweet she wrote, except using “President Trump” and reversing the races.
Sohn responded that she would need to know more context surrounding the tweet, but then admitted that she would not hire someone who wrote that.

Vance also read a tweet in which Sohn called Justice Brett Kavanaugh an “angry white man.” He went on to tell her that the United States has little racial harmony today and whatever remains can be preserved when officials are not using language that will inflame the “very worst.” Concerned that Sohn would use that language while the FCC commissioner, the senator speculated that her bias may be used to censor.
A confirmation vote remains to be taken for Sohn’s appointment. When she was first nominated in October 2021, Sohn was criticized for her involvement with the streaming service Locast, where she was one of the three directors. The service was reportedly violating copyright law and was ordered to pay $32 million in damages.
