Bill O’Reilly Says Fox News Will Lose Ground

(HorizonPost.com) – The recent firing of Tucker Carlson from Fox News has many people questioning why the outlet would let go of one of its most popular anchors. As expected, many right-wing commentators have their opinions on what happened. Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly weighed in on the matter and said that the termination comes about six years after he was let go, according to Mediaite.

O’Reilly was reportedly let go after numerous allegations of misconduct came out against him. But he said that Carlson took over for him and subsequently lost many of his viewers, however, that trend changed after he pandered toward a more “hard right” audience.

The former host claimed that Carlson was never really an “overtly Republican guy” but was more of a contrarian, noting that being a voice for the “far right” was a lucrative move. He then predicted that Fox News’ audience will continue to diminish because the MAGA crowd will no longer stick around without him.

The news has rattled the conservative community. Supporters of Donald Trump have lambasted the network for letting Carlson go, with Donald Trump Jr. suggesting that the move will “change things permanently.”

On the topic of what Carlson will do next, O’Reilly said that he might likely start his own news operation. Carlson recently gave his first comments since the departure was announced earlier this week.

“Retirement is going great so far,” he said jokingly to the Daily Mail. “I haven’t eaten dinner with my wife on a weeknight in seven years.” But Carlson did not specifically talk about what he was going to do now that he was no longer part of Fox News. Meanwhile, leftists have celebrated the decision. Far-left socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez responded to the news and proclaimed that “deplatforming works.”
