(HorizonPost.com) – In 2019, New York state Attorney General Letitia James opened an investigation into the business practices of former President Donald Trump. She alleges his company inflated its real estate holdings. On December 20, the businessman and politician filed a suit against James for reportedly violating his constitutional rights. The lawsuit demands the attorney stop the investigation into his affairs, alleging she’s simply going after him for political reasons.
Trump is simultaneously facing a criminal investigation regarding his business practices conducted by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr., a lawsuit he previously challenged.

According to The New York Times, the suit states James’ mission is to “harass, intimidate, and retaliate” against the former president. Trump stated James is just continuing the Democrats’ political witch hunt against him.
The New York attorney responded to the filing by stating she has no intention of stopping her investigation. She stated neither Trump nor his organization is “above the law.”
Although experts say a judge is not likely to stop James from continuing her quest, the executive director for the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, Jonathan Smith, thinks Trump’s best chance at success lies with his arguments about her ethics.
