European Union Lands Blow Against China

(HorizonPost.com) – Accusations have been leveled against the People’s Republic of China. Reports are they have engaged in a campaign of terror aimed at the mostly Muslim Uyghur ethnic minority in the country’s Xinjiang province. According to the Reuters news service, it is believed that the repressive Communist government is holding more than 1 million people in “reeducation camps” as well as using them as slave labor and mutilating their women with forced sterilization.

The European Union (EU) led much of the Western world when it levied sanctions against four Beijing officials, including the region’s top security official Chen Mingguo under the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act. This international accord — named after a Russian whistleblower who was arrested, tortured, and died in prison — allows nations to ban people’s travel and freeze the assets of entities or countries that violate any group’s human rights.

The United States, Canada, and Great Britain quickly followed suit and issued their own decrees announcing similar measures. The assembly in Brussels has also called for the upcoming 2022 Olympics scheduled for China to be stripped from the country or boycotted unless it stops all actions against the Muslim Uyghur ethnic minority.
