Feds Confirm Over 16,000 Illegals Have Snuck Past Border

(HorizonPost.com) – US Border Patrol reports that 16,000 migrants have been encountered at the southern border in the last 48 hours, with El Paso witnessing the single largest group crossing ever.

The chief of the US Border Patrol, Raul Ortiz, confirmed that there had been over 16,000 encounters with migrants, or 8,000 each day, in addition to the $97 million worth of drugs, numerous gang members, murderers, and deviant offenders who had been arrested.

In an interview with MSNBC in 2019, former Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said that during his tenure in office, witnessing more than 1,000 migrant arrests would leave him “in a bad mood the whole day.” During the interview, more than 4,000 migrants had already been apprehended.

Johnson said a thousand overwhelms the system. He said we are in a true crisis, and he cannot even begin to imagine what 4,000 a day looks like.”

Bill Melugin, a Fox News reporter based in Los Angeles, cited Johnson’s remarks and said, “We are 8x that right now.”

Melugin captured the single largest migrant caravan to ever cross the border at once on camera at the US-Mexico border in El Paso, Texas, with more than 1,000 people doing so illegally. At least 5,100 migrants are currently being held by El Paso’s Customs and Border Protection, according to reports, and Melugin claims that “hundreds” more have been released.

On Monday, CBP told Fox News that the El Paso Sector, located on the Texas-Mexico border, had seen an increase in encounters. Border Patrol agents from Big Bend and CBP officers from the El Paso Field Office are assisting with processing to do so safely and quickly.

Numerous migrants on the El Paso side had been bussed into Ciudad Juarez, the Mexican city across the border from El Paso while being escorted by Mexican police. The migrants were unloaded from the 20 buses at the border and released to various NGOs before crossing the river.

Ali Bradley, a border correspondent for NewsNation, claims that Border Patrol agents have been told to “process illegal migrants faster” and free them “by any means” before Tuesday’s border visit by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
