Heavy Tensions Lead to Clashes Between Hamas and Israel

(HorizonPost.com) – Violence has once again boiled over between Israel and Hamas terrorists after a series of clashes occurred during the Islamic holiday month of Ramadan. The latest escalation began on May 10, with Palestinian protesters in front of the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem throwing rocks and other debris at Israeli police forces, who then responded with less-than-lethal munitions like rubber bullets and flash grenades.

The terror group then upped the ante by firing an estimated 45 rockets. At least six of them fired into the outskirts of the capital city, but there were no reports of casualties. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the attacks “crossed a red line” as the country responded with airstrikes on the area of the Gaza Strip, the launching point of the missiles.

Former President Donald Trump earned several nominations for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts at reconciliation in the area known as the Abraham Accords. The last time Hamas landed rockets into Jerusalem was in 2014, during Barack Obama’s administration. They’ve now increased the violence under President Joe Biden’s administration — and that’s quite telling.
