(HorizonPost.com) – Kevin Costner reportedly told his three teenage children that he and their mother are getting a divorce in a short Zoom call. The news comes after People obtained court documents of the situation. Costner reportedly made the call while working in Las Vegas.
His now-estranged wife of 25 years, Christine Baumgartner, wondered why he would tell them over a video call, which lasted 10 minutes. She claims that she wanted to tell their children together because she is concerned that they would have found out some other way. But instead, she expressed disappointment that he went behind her back and felt that he had the “right” to do so without her.
Baumgartner reportedly filed for divorce while Costner was away working. A source with knowledge of the situation allegedly told People that when he is away, he regularly calls his children via FaceTime.
Baumgartner is seeking $248,000 a month in child support but no formal request was included in the documents, according to The Daily Caller. Costner’s income from 2022 was $19,517,064, while their familial expenses totaled $6,645,285. Their expenses include vacations to the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Aspen, and entertaining guests. Maintaining their properties reportedly amounts to around $2 million per year.
The news comes as Costner may not be returning to “Yellowstone” in 2023. The WGA has halted filming for Yellowstone’s prequel series “1923” as its writers continue to strike. The second series of “The Last of Us” has also been postponed as it has not been written yet. Shooting is expected to resume in early 2024.
Costner is not expected to leave California for the rest of the year as his wife remains in their home. The actor has reportedly contacted the courts as she is in violation of their prenup, which requires her to do so.
