Lindsey Graham Begs Supreme Court To Take His Case
(HorizonPost.com) – Republican South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham went directly to the Supreme Court to request that they block a subpoena issued from a lower court that would require him to provide testimony regarding the 2020 election, according to the Daily Caller. Graham urged to court to block the subpoena so that he could appeal the lower court’s decision as they refused to block his testimony.
A three-judge panel on the 11th Circuit Court held that “Senator Graham has failed to demonstrate that he is likely to succeed on the merits of his appeal,” according to the outlet. Justice Clarence Thomas handles that circuit and will review the senator’s appeal.
Sen. Lindsey Graham has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene after a lower court ordered him to testify before a special grand jury in Georgia investigating whether then-President Donald Trump and others illegally tried to influence the 2020 election. https://t.co/xkhm9MIk2y

“Without a stay, Senator Lindsey Graham will soon be questioned by a local Georgia prosecutor and her ad hoc investigative body about his protected ‘Speech or Debate’ related to the 2020 election,” Graham’s appeal to Thomas reads. “This will occur despite the Constitution’s command that Senators ‘shall not be questioned’ about ‘any Speech or Debate.’”
In August, a federal judge ruled that while Graham may avoid providing testimony over phone calls he allegedly made to local state officials on to help him choose whether or not he would vote to certify election results, he will have to answer on other topics.
Earlier that month, the South Carolina senator also skipped a court appearance that would have discussed former President Donald Trump’s alleged attempt to overturn the 2020 election.
Trump has offered cryptic insight into whether he is personally considering a 2024 run again at the White House, saying only that he thinks people will be “very happy.” He has recently come out to say at a fundraiser that his 2024 plans will come out “very soon.” But recent investigations into him may lead into indictments that could bar his viability to run for president again.
