(HorizonPost.com) – While former Minneapolis, Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin stood trial for the death of George Floyd, another Black man, Daunte Wright, was shot and killed by a police officer on April 11 in a nearby suburb, increasing community outrage. Perhaps because of all the tensions and accompanying disdain of authority figures, someone opened fire on a group of National Guard troops and police officers in the early hours of April 18. Thankfully, there were only minor injuries. On April 19, Chauvin’s case was handed to the jury for deliberations.

One would think this country’s leaders might prevail upon cooler heads to douse the flames of indignation and not pour fuel on the fire. Unfortunately, one would be wrong — at least as far as the Progressives are concerned. Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) took to Minneapolis streets and encouraged rioters to be even more “confrontational” in their actions.
In the United States of America, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty, but one wouldn’t know it by the way the Democrats portray things. The trial judge went so far as to say that Waters’ comments might be enough for an appeals court to overturn a potential guilty verdict.
