Possibility of Drugs in Tragic Kansas City Chiefs Fans’ Deaths

(HorizonPost.com) – Police in Missouri are investigating the deaths of three Kansas City Chiefs fans who mysteriously died while watching the game against the LA Chargers at the home of a friend, NBC News reported.

The three men attended a game-day watch party on Sunday, January 7 at a home on NW 83rd Terrace in Kansas City. The following Tuesday, the fiancé of one man went to the home to look for him.

Police were called to the scene where they confirmed that a body was found on the back porch. While searching the property, responding officers found the bodies of two other men in the backyard.

The three men were identified as David Harrington, Ricky Johnson, and Clayton McGeeney. All in their mid-30s, the three had been friends since high school.

According to the Kansas City Police, there were no signs of foul play and so far, no arrests have been made.

Kansas City Police officials said the resident of the home, who was identified as Jordan Willis, cooperated with detectives when the bodies were found. Autopsies to determine the causes of death are underway.

The somewhat mysterious circumstances around the men’s death have led to speculation in the media.

The New York Post spoke with a Johns Hopkins University epidemiologist specializing in drug use who suggested that it was plausible that drugs may have been a factor in their deaths.

Dr. Caleb Alexander told the Post that one death would be tragic but the fact that three men all died in the same place “heightens the curiosity” and makes it more likely that something other than alcohol was “at play here.”

Dr. Alexander said under the circumstances, he believed the deaths could have been the result of either unintentionally or intentionally mixing opioids with alcohol.

He said the circumstances of the men’s deaths could be consistent with the presence of multiple possible drugs including benzodiazepines, barbiturates, muscle relaxants, or opioids.

However, Dr. Alexander conceded that he was only speculating and we wouldn’t know if drugs played a role until the toxicology results came back.
