(HorizonPost.com) – When one thinks of a ‘man-cave’ in 21st Century terms, they probably envision a large flatscreen TV, a refrigerator, recliners, and maybe a microwave oven. What archaeologists found on Gibraltar is an OG version, sealed off for an estimated 40,000 years. And while it would be hilarious to see their reaction had they found a plasma television, that was not to be. But they did find evidence leading them to believe Neanderthals used it.
"These caves have this habit of almost making you feel the presence of the people who were there before you," says Gibraltar National Museum director. https://t.co/8lGCa3A3zr

The director of the Gibraltar National Museum, Clive Finlayson, describes some of what his team found in these new chambers of the Gorham’s Cave Complex and quite literally dug up, including one item with a somewhat disturbing backstory. He describes evidence of cook fires and food preparation in the skeletal remains of dolphins, seals, and golden eagles.
Another interesting scientific finding, 40 millennia after the fact, could give pause to those who are parents. The team found a child’s tooth, from what they estimated to be a four-year-old, in the middle of what appeared to be a den for hyenas. Without any other signs of Neanderthal occupation in the area where they found the tooth, Finlayson speculates the animals dragged the youngster to the location and then ate the child.
