(HorizonPost.com) – A woman was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly stabbing three at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, The Associated Press reported.
The incident took place around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday when officers assigned to the airport encountered a woman carrying a knife and walking toward the south terminal outside of a security checkpoint.
When officers attempted to engage with the woman and get her to drop the knife, the suspect stabbed a woman.
When a police lieutenant attempted to take her into custody, she stabbed him in the leg. Another officer intervened, tackling the woman to the ground and disarming her. The suspect was then taken into custody.
Later, officers learned that the suspect had first stabbed a man before she entered the airport.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, the first victim was the driver of the taxi that brought the suspect to the airport.
After stabbing the driver, she walked into the airport where officers first encountered her not long after.
Police said all three victims were conscious and alert when they were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The suspect was not injured.
Fox 5 in Atlanta reported on Thursday that the Atlanta Police Department identified the suspect as Damaris Milton, 44.
Police said they are still investigating the incident to determine the motive.
