(HorizonPost.com) – Members of the New York City Council are criticizing the Biden administration and speaking out against the crisis at the southern border now that the crisis has reached their backyard, Fox News reported.
In an interview on “Fox & Friends First” last Thursday, Councilwoman Vickie Paladino said the surge of illegal aliens in New York is “downgrading everything.”
Paladino told Fox’s Carley Shimkus that New York is supposed to be “the heartbeat” of the country, but “they’re killing it.”
In discussing the overcrowding at the migrant center set up at New York’s Roosevelt Hotel, Paladino said it is “unsustainable” and “absolutely out of control.”
Paladino’s comments come one day after fellow New York City Council member Robert Holden blasted Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and the rest of the Biden administration of being “asleep at the wheel” during an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle” with host Laura Ingraham
Holden explained that New York City officials “haven’t heard a plan” from the Biden administration on how to deal with the 100,000 “unvetted foreign nationals” pouring into New York City.
According to Holden, the city will have to spend $8 million each day to deal with the surge in illegals. Meanwhile, President Biden “is asleep at the wheel,” Holden said, adding, “The whole administration is.”
When Laura Ingraham pointed out that Secretary Mayorkas told Congress that the administration is “managing the border” and those saying that the border is open aren’t telling the truth, Holden, a Democrat, told Ingraham that Secretary Mayorkas is lying.
He asked how Mayorkas could say that the border is secure when New York City has 100,000 “unvetted” foreign nationals who “walked across” the border.
Holden suggested that it makes no sense to say the border is secure when you look at the crowd of illegals outside of the Roosevelt Hotel.
