Government Response and Investigation
In response to the tragedy, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took swift action, suspending the assistant regional transport officer for allowing the dilapidated bus to operate. A magisterial inquiry into the incident was ordered by Kumaon commissioner Deepak Rawat, while the state government launched an official investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other officials expressed condolences and announced financial aid for the victims’ families.
