FOX’s Brit Hume Brands Trump A “Failed” President

(HorizonPost.com) – Last week, podcaster Charlie Kirk attempted to make a convincing case for why Donald Trump’s presidency was not a failure and inadvertently ended up arguing against himself.

During last Monday’s broadcast of the Charlie Kirk Show, the Turning Point USA founder was railing against the special counsel’s most recent indictment of Trump over his efforts to overturn the 2020 election and remain in office.

Kirk suggested that the judge assigned to the case, US District Judge Tanya Chutkan, might issue a protective order to limit how much Trump and his legal team can discuss the evidence shared by federal prosecutors in the case. In his zeal to defend Trump, Kirk demanded to know why “they” are doing everything to stop Donald Trump from becoming president again if he “was such a failed president.”

After the publication Human Events tweeted a video clip of the segment, presumably believing that Kirk was making an excellent point, Twitter users were quick to point out that Kirk’s argument was completely illogical. One user replied that Kirk answered his own question, noting that people don’t want Trump to become president again because he was a failure.

Among those who pointed out the illogic of Kirk’s argument was Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume. In quote-tweeting the video clip, Hume sarcastically noted, “Maybe they don’t want a repeat of a failed presidency. Just guessing here.” To call attention to the fallacy of Kirk’s argument, Ben McDonald, a writer for The Blaze, turned the tables a bit, asking if Joe Biden is such a failed president, why are they trying to prevent him from winning a second term?

Charlie Kirk will no doubt have to redouble his efforts to defend Trump this week after Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis announced on Monday that Trump and 18 others have been indicted on 41 counts for attempting to overturn the Georgia election results in 2020.
