New York City “Stampede” Leaves Lots Of Injuries, 1 Death

(HorizonPost.com) – One person was killed, and two were injured after a stampede broke out during a rap event in Rochester, New York, due to unfounded concerns about gunshots.

During a press conference on Monday, Rochester Police Chief David M. Smith stated that after the Memphis rap sensations GloRilla and Finesse2tymes completed playing at the Main Street Armory on Sunday night, the crowd started to surge dangerously soon after 11 p.m.

One person was killed, and two others are in critical condition after what started as a night of live music and pleasure for the musician GloRilla, the police chief said.

As police entered the concert venue, they discovered three ladies who had been severely wounded. One person, 33 years old, passed away while receiving medical care. On Monday, authorities reported the other two were in critical condition. Seven more persons were sent to local hospitals to treat non-life-threatening injuries.

Smith added that although there is no proof of gunfire, police are looking into many reasons that may have contributed to the rise in fatalities, such as “potentially crowd size, rounds fired, pepper spray, and other contributing factors.”

The city’s mayor, Malik Evans, has termed the death stampede absolutely unacceptable, and he has pledged a thorough inquiry into whether or not the venue’s organizers had enough safety precautions in place for a vast audience.

Evans said that anybody responsible for what occurred yesterday night would be punished, adding that it was too soon in the inquiry to determine fault.

Grammy-nominated artist GloRilla, whose 2022 collaboration with Hitkidd resulted in the song “F.N.F. (Let’s Go),” tweeted that she hoped everyone is well.

In 2021, during a performance by rapper Travis Scott, ten people lost their lives due to a crowd surge, one of many such tragedies at concerts and other huge events in the United States and throughout the globe.

The Rochester Armory was constructed between 1905 and 1907 by the United States Army. It was put to use for athletic events during the 20th century until being closed for many years beginning in the late 1990s.

It underwent major repairs and reopened in 2005 when it started holding concerts and other events. According to Smith, the primary arena is designed to fit around 5,000 people. He said that on Sunday, the city’s fire marshal and the police would check to see whether the limit had been breached.
