North Dakota Woman Charged with Murder After Boyfriend’s Death

(HorizonPost.com) – A North Dakota woman was arrested this week and charged with felony murder in connection to the poisoning death of her boyfriend in September, CBS News reported.

Ina Thea Kenoyer, 47, was arrested on Monday and charged with Class AA felony murder in the death of 51-year-old Steven Edward Riley, Jr., the Minot Police Department announced in a press release posted on its Facebook page.

Riley was in a relationship with the suspect at the time of his death and police believe that Kenoyer may have murdered him for financial gain.

Riley died at a hospital in Bismarck, North Dakota on September 5 after he was transferred there from the hospital in Minot. An autopsy subsequently determined that the cause of death was poisoning.

In a statement on Monday, Minot Police Captain Dale Plessas described the investigation into Riley’s death as “extremely complex.” He thanked those who provided investigators with the information that helped them piece together the case.

Kenoyer is currently being held at Ward County Jail in Minot, a city just 50 miles from the Canadian border.

A conviction of a Class AA felony in North Dakota carries a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

According to Captain Plessas, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Riley’s death is still ongoing.
