Hillary Clinton Accuses Trump of Putin-like Tactics

(HorizonPost.com) – Hillary Clinton last week claimed that if Donald Trump was elected in November, he would likely take a page out of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s playbook and jail or exile his political opponents, Real Clear Politics reported.

While appearing on her former campaign lawyer Marc Elias’ podcast “Defending Democracy,” the former 2016 Democrat nominee accused Trump of being “gaga over Putin” because the Russian president does the things that Trump “would like to do.”

She claimed Trump wanted to be able to “kill” or imprison his political opposition, send reporters into exile, and “rule without any check or balance.”

Clinton accused Trump of emulating “strongmen leaders” like Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, adding that they were the people Trump “is modeling himself after.”

She warned that the world had been “down this road” before and “we sure don’t want to go down that again.”

Clinton isn’t the only one who fears that Trump will target his political opponents. The political opponents who targeted Trump are also worried that he may turn the tables on them as well.

CBS News reported last week that some members of the now-defunct January 6 select committee are concerned that Donald Trump might seek retribution against them if he wins the White House in November.

California Democrat Adam Schiff told CBS News that he and his wife have even had “conversations” about what might happen to him if Trump returns to the White House.

Fellow January 6 committee member, Democrat Pete Aguilar, told reporters earlier this month that he took Trump’s threats about jailing his enemies seriously.

California Rep. Zoe Lofgren revealed to CBS News that she had been harassed by Trump supporters for her role on the January 6 committee and said the one thing she learned from the committee’s investigation was that if Trump makes a threat, “he intends to do it.”

Former DC Metro Police Officer Michael Fanone, now a celebrity with the anti-Trump Resistance for his testimony before the January 6 committee, told CBS News that if Trump returns to the White House, he would “weaponize” the Justice Department to go after people like him.
