Killer Mike Faces Questions on Biden Endorsement

(HorizonPost.com) – Rapper Killer Mike this week explained why he has not endorsed Joe Biden in the 2024 Presidential race, The Decider reported.

In a recent interview with “Real Time” host Bill Maher, the rapper refused to endorse Biden, despite Maher repeatedly urging him to throw his support behind the president.

Killer Mike explained at the time that people should vote based on policies rather than personalities. He argued that he would support Biden in the election once the president backed the policies that were important to him.

On Monday, Killer Mike appeared on ABC’s “The View” where he was asked by co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin why he was reticent to endorse Biden.

The rapper explained that he was more focused on local politics rather than the “soap opera of federal elections.” He said he was more concerned about who would be the next mayor of Atlanta than he was about the presidential race.

Killer Mike, who is from Atlanta, added that he also had a “good relationship” with Republican Governor Brian Kemp, explaining that he liked what Kemp had done for Georgia businesses and how he expanded the Hope Scholarship.

Co-host Sunny Hostin said she was surprised that Mike was showing support for Governor Kemp, prompting the rapper to explain that he didn’t say he supported Kemp.

Hostin tried to clarify, asking if it was that Mike supported Kemp’s policies.

The rapper said since Kemp was the governor of his home state, he has to “be involved” with him. He said he supported Stacey Abrams in the election and supported Democrats in general but explained that he wasn’t going to refuse to work with a Republican governor “on behalf of my people.”

Hostin, however, continued to press, listing off what she thought were some of Biden’s accomplishments that benefited blacks.

Mike said there were things that Biden has done that he supported but reiterated that his priority remains local politics.
