(HorizonPost.com) – A 36-year-old former adult film actress committed suicide last week at her Parma, Ohio home, the UK Mirror reported.
Gossip site TMZ reported that records from the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the receipt of the body of porn actress Kagney Linn Karter under her real name Kagney Linn Necessary.
A spokesperson for the Parma Police Department confirmed to TMZ that Karter appeared to have committed suicide.
Friends of the actress confirmed her suicide in the GoFundMe account set up to raise money to help her mother Tina cover the costs of her funeral.
According to the details provided on the GoFundMe account by her friends, Karter struggled with “mental health issues” and “tragically took her own life in her home.”
Any additional funds raised will be donated to a local animal rescue.
The 36-year-old began making adult films in the mid-2000s after working as a model and exotic dancer, according to her friends.
In 2019, she left Los Angeles for Ohio where she eventually became an instructor at a pole dancing studio in the Cleveland area. Not long after, Karter opened the first pole-dancing studio in Akron.
According to her friends, despite her bouts of depression, Karter continued to work at the studio, “always ready” to “better herself.”
Kagney, whose father named her after actor James Cagney, was last seen by her friends on Wednesday, February 7 at a class at the studio.
According to IMDB, Karter worked as an exotic dancer in Missouri in the mid-2000s and was named “Déjà vu Showgirl of the Year” in Missouri in 2007. She moved to LA a short time later and signed with LA Direct Models. As a model, Karter worked with Holly Randall, a well-known adult photographer.
Karter made her hardcore film premier in 2008 which landed her on the covers of both Hustler and Adult Video News. Her work in adult films won her an XRCO Award, an AVN Award, and an XBIZ Award.
