(HorizonPost.com) – Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed an executive order that effectively bans the usage of the term “Latinx” in government documents, according to The Daily Wire. The order was signed because the term was reportedly reasoned to be “culturally insensitive” to the Latino community.
“Ethnically insensitive and pejorative language has no place in official government documents or government employee titles,” Sanders’ executive order stated. It continued to say that the government should respect communities and “use ethnically appropriate language.”
The executive order pointed to a Pew Research Center poll showing that only 2-3% of Latinos use the term “Latinx.” Real Academia Española, a Madrid-based institution, also reportedly rejected the “x” in place of “o” and “a” in the Spanish language.
I am incredibly honored to be the 47th Governor, and the first woman governor, of the great state of Arkansas.
We will show the world that there is still a place in America where freedom reigns and liberty will never die, and that place is Arkansas.

The order by the governor urged that state offices, departments, and agencies review their documents for the usage of the term. The entities are then to report back to the governor detailing how often these terms appeared in government documents within 60 days of the order being signed. All terms that are found must also be revised.
The executive order comes on the heels of another that labeled Critical Race Theory “antithetical to the traditional American values of neutrality, equality, and fairness.” It claimed that the theory makes skin color a priority and resurrects the attitudes of segregationists.
Huckabee was sworn into office last week where she became the 47th governor of Arkansas, following in the footsteps of her father Mike Huckabee, who served from 1996 to 2007. She took to Twitter to proclaim that Arkansas is the place where “freedom reigns and liberty will never die.”
States around the county have been dabbling in progressive ideologies. In one Minnesota high school, students were given a list of progressive topics to choose from for their projects, according to American Pigeon.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis took steps to ban Critical Race Theory from the state’s curriculum as well, according to Newsweek.
