(HorizonPost.com) – In a recent interview, influencer Kennedy Littledike recounted the tragic 2021 car accident that left her dangling from power lines thirty feet above the ground and how the experience of losing her leg changed her life, the New York Post reported.
The incident occurred in May 2021 when Kennedy and two friends were involved in a single-car rollover accident near Declo, Idaho.
Kennedy, then only 16, lost control of the Nissan she was driving and she and both of her friends were thrown from the vehicle, leaving Kennedy dangling from a live power line.
Nearby residents who saw the crash tended to Kennedy’s two friends and waited for emergency responders to arrive to get her down from the power lines. Nearly an hour later, Kennedy was rescued and airlifted to a nearby hospital before being transferred to Salt Lake City’s University of Utah Medical Center.
In a recent interview with Inside Edition, the now 19-year-old Kennedy explained how the accident changed her life.
According to Kennedy, the crash left her with multiple fractures. In total, she endured more than 20 surgeries, including five separate surgeries in which doctors amputated more of her leg each time in an attempt to save as much as they could.
She told Inside Edition that before the accident, she struggled emotionally and even considered suicide. But after her ordeal in the hospital and her lengthy recovery, she realized that she had been “pathetic.” While her situation was “harder” now, Kennedy said she has been “so much happier.”
Kennedy said she would encourage anyone who has gone through something similar not to wallow in self-pity as it would only make you feel worse. She said it was better to make goals and work “for what you want.”
The 19-year-old now shares her experience as a public speaker and through her TikTok account, hoping to help others who are going through similarly difficult times.
Kennedy told Inside Edition that being able to make a difference in someone else’s life has been “rewarding.”
