Authorities Find Bodies After Texas AMBER Alert

(HorizonPost.com) – Law enforcement in Bexar County, Texas confirmed that the two bodies discovered in a park on Tuesday morning match the description of a San Antonio mother and child who were reported missing on Monday evening, KSAT reported.

An AMBER Alert was issued Monday evening for 32-year-old Savannah Kriger and her 3-year-old son Kaiden.

Savannah was last seen leaving the daycare center where she picked up her son for a doctor’s appointment in her white Lincoln Aviator.

The vehicle was later found at Tom Slick Park in San Antonio near Highway 151 and Loop 410.

The AMBER Alert was discontinued on Tuesday morning after the bodies were found.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar told reporters that the search for Kriger and her child was prompted after the sheriff’s office received a call from family members requesting a welfare check.

Deputies responded to Kriger’s home and were given entry by a family member. While inside, deputies found evidence leading them to be concerned for the welfare of the mother and child. However, Sheriff Salazar did not say specifically what that evidence was.

The sheriff’s office searched the area through the night. Tracking pings from Kriger’s phone led them to Tom Slick Park where her vehicle was found abandoned.

According to Sheriff Salazar, deputies and officers from the San Antonio Police Department’s Eagle and Park Police broke off the search until daybreak and eventually found Kriger and Kaiden in a ditch along the back of Tom Slick Park dead from gunshot wounds.

Salazar said at this time, they were investigating the deaths as an apparent murder-suicide as a gun was found near the bodies.

The sheriff said Kriger was involved in an ongoing custody battle over Kaiden and a hearing was scheduled for Tuesday. Family members were concerned when they were unable to contact Savannah, Salazar said.

Kaiden’s father was assisting the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office in its investigation.
