Country Star Morgan Wallen Faces Felony Charges

(HorizonPost.com) – Country singer Morgan Wallen was arrested Sunday night after throwing a chair off of the rooftop of a downtown Nashville bar, CNN reported.

Metro Nashville Police Department said in a statement on X that the 30-year-old country music star was booked on three counts of felony reckless endangerment for tossing the chair from the roof of Chief’s Bar.

Unfortunately for Wallen, the chair landed near two Metro Nashville police officers.

According to the arrest affidavit, the officers were standing outside of the bar shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 7 when the chair dropped from above and landed only feet away. Bar employees told the officers that Wallen had thrown the chair from the rooftop of the six-story building.

Wallen was captured on surveillance footage from the rooftop lunging before throwing something over the edge. Witnesses told the officers that Wallen grabbed the chair, threw it over the edge, and then laughed.

In a statement to CNN on Monday, attorney Worrick Robinson confirmed that his client was arrested at 10:53 p.m. Robinson said Wallen was fully cooperating with authorities.

Wallen was charged with three class E felony counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon since the chair caused a “danger to the public, according to the arrest affidavit. He was also charged with one count of disorderly conduct.

According to the Davidson County Criminal Court, a bond of $15,250 was set for Wallen. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 3.

Wallen is no stranger to controversy.

In 2021, his record label suspended his contract after he was captured on video using a racial slur. Radio stations yanked Wallen’s music in response to the scandal and the singer was forced to apologize.

During the 2020 pandemic, NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” canceled his scheduled appearance as a musical guest after videos appeared on social media showing him partying and kissing women without wearing a mask.
