Fatal Shooting Rocks Vegas Legal Community

(HorizonPost.com) – Two people are dead following a shooting in a Las Vegas law firm on Monday in which the shooter also took his own life, the Associated Press reported.

The incident occurred during a child custody deposition hearing at the Prince Law Group in the affluent Summerlin neighborhood when a man attending the hearing shot and killed two people before turning the gun on himself.

In a press conference on Monday, LVPD homicide Lt. Jason Johansson said the shooter was a man in his seventies and the victims were a woman in her thirties and a man in his fifties.

Johansson said there were seven people in the room at the time and the two victims appeared to be specifically targeted. The other people present quickly escaped and contacted the police. The children involved in the custody battle were both safe and accounted for, Johansson said.

Johansson did not identify the suspect or the victims. However, CBS News reported that a friend of the victims, Robert Eglet, said the gunman killed attorney Dennis Prince and his wife Ashley Prince.

Dennis was representing his wife in the custody case against her ex-husband Dylan Houston.

Eglet told CBS News that Houston was being represented by his father, attorney Joe Houston. It was Joe Houston who shot and killed the Princes before turning the gun on himself.

The Las Vegas Sun confirmed the names of the shooter and two victims.

In a statement Monday evening, Prince Law Group confirmed that the shooting took place in its offices and expressed its thanks to those who “reached out” in concern and sympathy after the morning’s “tragic violence.”

Lt. Johansson said investigators searched the suspect’s Ford Expedition which was parked outside of the midrise office building where the shooting took place. However, he did not say what, in anything, was found during the search.

The Clark County Coroner said there was no further information on the victims or the shooter at this time.
