New Trump VS Biden Poll Released

(HorizonPost.com) – As former President Donald Trump faces criminal charges brought by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, his approval rating is lower than President Joe Biden’s, Fox News reports. A recent Quinnipiac University poll shows a different picture than what is currently seen in the Republican primary polls where Trump is the leading contender for 2024.

In a hypothetical race between Trump and Biden, Biden leads him 49% to 45%. The same poll, however, indicates that Trump holds a sizeable lead against the Florida governor when it comes to approval within the party. Trump leads DeSantis by 14 points in a potential primary between them.

Quinnipiac University polling analyst Tim Malloy commented that while DeSantis is generating talk, he is not as popular, adding that Trump’s popularity is not on any decline.

But the broader public may not see Trump the way Republicans do. An ABC/Ipsos poll has Biden leading Trump in favorability by nearly 10 points, from 34% to 25%. The poll, conducted from April 6 to 7, may indicate a growing trend. After Trump was indicted and arraigned on April 4, 48% of Americans reportedly believe that he should suspend his campaign.

Other polls show the same sentiment. An NPR/Marist poll conducted in March reported that 61% of adults across the nation did not want to see Trump in office again compared to only 34% who did. The survey had Trump’s favorability at 39%. FiveThirtyEight’s favorability also has Biden leading the former president. Biden enjoys a 43% approval and 53% disapproval rating, whereas Trump trails with 37% approving and 55% disapproving.

Biden has not yet formally announced his campaign but said that he was planning to run. By the time the next presidential election comes around, Biden will be 82 years old, which has some Democrats concerned that he will be too old to finish his second term.
